Venus Seminars

Welcome to the VENUS Seminars Website! VENUS offers seminars for interested citizens and students all over Europe, in a virtual way. Some past topics of the autumn (2006) and spring (2007) seminar series are ‘Water Economy’ by professor Petrella, ‘The moral challenges of Leadership’ by professor Ciulla, ‘Knowledge 2.0’ by Stephen Downes… all within the overall theme “Global Issues for the European Citizen”. You can find the recordings of the seminars on this page.

For each topic, the VENUS team invited a renowned speaker, a specialist in the field, whose lecture was broadcast through videoconference to several locations all over Europe. At these locations people gathered to discuss the subject both locally (face-to-face) and internationally with each other and with the expert (interactively, through videoconferencing and streaming technology).

People who attended the VENUS seminars, though sometimes skeptic beforehand, returned very enthusiastic, both about the contact with the famous speaker and about the European feeling caused by an audience spread over several European countries: “The delivery is virtual, the experience is real!”
